I used a baking soda mask, with about 5 drops of tea tree essential oil. I left it on my face for approximately 10 minutes. I did have a burning sensation, but I usually get this with the tea tree and it goes away after removing the solution. I have used bi carb as an exfoliating scrub before and had excellent results, however I don't recommend that this mask be kept on for more than 5 minutes, as now my face is red, sensitive, sore and feels very dry. Perhaps just use the mixture as a scrub and remove straight away.

@ : You should be careful when using baking soda because it may cause uncomfortable sensations such as burning and stinging. To be on the safe side, you should test it with your hands before using it. Baking soda is suitable for your daily use. However, if your skin is very sensitive, avoid using it regularly.

I used a baking soda mask to treat bad poison ivy on my face. It burned for a bit, and left my skin really dry for about a week, but did clear up the poison bubbles right away. I left the mask on for 1/2 hour, will reduce time next time I use it.

@ : Baking soda may over-dry your skin and that is why you need to moisturize soon after. You may experience burning or stinging, dryness or/and itchy sensations. If you have skin that cannot handle the face mask, kindly rinse it off as soon as possible then apply oil-free moisturizer to have the skin hydrated and moisturized.

Tip.. if your in the UK like me please don't confuse baking soda with baking powder they are different things! Bicarbonate of soda is the uk equivalent of baking soda so use that. Baking power in the uk is a completely different thing! :p

I mixed baking soda and water to form a paste. I put in on my t zone to get rid of grease and ache for 5 minutes and at first, it burned soooo bad! I washed it off with cold water. It was red and inflamed. After I let it calm down for about 5 minutes, my acne was gone and there was no grease! I think this is worth it, because it's about 5-10 minutes of pain, but days of healthy looking skin. Definitely try this out
