I’m so glad I stumbled upon your article! Being on reddit really does help. Anyway, my skin turns red really often. I’ve been trying to figure out my triggers so I can give my dermatologist a better idea. They recommend that I start using an anti redness cream. Is there any cream you can suggest? I’ve heard good things about redness creams that help calm the skin and take away the color. As someone who deals with facial redness often I think this would be helpful for me.

@ : Hi Laura, I use a cream that I get from vitacost.com, that has vitamin C in it. It's called GloNaturals Essentials, Vitamin C Renewal Cream. I've also used Andalou Naturals products and I really like that line, especially the cleansing milk. The cleansing milk doesn't dry the skin out. I recently made a mask that was wonderful and left my skin feeling great and less red. 1 whole avocado, shea butter (optional), coconut oil unrefined, honey, vitamin E and blended it, applied and left on for about 20 minutes. Rinsed with cool water and patted dry. I then applied even more moisturizer and used the GloNaturals on top. Extreme cold and hot temps will aggravate, as well as red wine, spicy foods, gluten, sugar, too much salt, etc. I have to eat really healthy, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest for my skin to look great. Living in a more humid climate and or by the ocean would also do wonders, as my skin is always awesome when we are vacationing at the ocean. Good luck! I wish there were easier solutions! :)

@ : @ Courtney James Sounds like perioral dermatitis and this will spread to around your chin and up your face if you do not treat it. I tried everything natural with no real success...had to take the antibiotic tetracycline and worked like a charm. You may have just the beginning stage of it and if you look at photos of full blown dermatitis, you might think you don't have it but if your upper lip is red, irritated and sometimes has a burning sensation, chances are you do.

@ : Food allergies? Ive eliminated eggs from my diet and hot stuff such as crushed red chilli peppers, hot peppers, jalapenos.. which were triggers for my skin reactions on my face and scalp. Perfumes, smelly lotions that also say hypo... etc Allergy testings are helpful. Cocunut oil...olive oil.

@ : Have you tried Vicks Vaporub? Stings a little bit but did absolute wonders for me. Give it a go! that, or get a good exfoliator from you're local body product store (or make one using white sugar and vanilla essence) scrub out the dry skin, wash your lips with water and apply a heavy duty lip balm or lip mask. Stay away from licking, cold weather without chapstick and teething them by pulling the skin with your teeth. Good luck!

Hello, I'm 17 and my skin on my face is very red because I used to have acne, and the product i was prescribed burnt my skin. However, I haven't used that in over 6 months and the redness is still there - could any of these help to permanently reduce it or?

@ : The same thing happened to me, I used an acne medication that totally dried out and burned my skin and I haven't used it for a long time but now my skin is always really red and I don't know what to do.

I'm a 60 yr old male who works out at least four times a week. Several years ago I faced the sudden appearance of the scarlet C on the right side of my face. I quickly discovered a range of products titled Jack Black was the cause. After stopping use the redness and rash vanished and the returned and until recently I just suffered. My doctor did a series of blood test and determined I had a Vitamin D definicy and prescribed a heavy dose to be taken once a week. He suggested I use a mild soap, then use lukewarm water and one part vinager and then when dry dab a bit of Rosehip oil on the red spots. It's been about 10 days and I see 100% improvement. Not sure if it was all three or just one but my face is better. I will say the Rosehip does make my face look and feel better and I use a few drops in my hair after showering. Best of lick.

I'm a thirteen-year-old girl who lives in a very cold place, and over the past two days, two reddened patches of skin have appeared on my forehead. I'm not too worried as they seem to get better a little every day, but if anyone knows a long-term solution to get rid of redness, please let me know! Also, if you get any small, violent red blotches, try covering it up with toothpaste and letting it dry (I prefer overnight) which will dry out and shrink the size of most pimples and I have found it reduces redness for a substantial amount of time.

I'm a 16 year old girl and for I think a year I have had quite bad rednes in my cheeks. I don't think it's to do with any allergic reaction as I don't use the same products that often. It really worrying me as its really ugly and I'm really self conscious about it
